Fast for longevity
                                       What is a fast?

A fast is voluntary abstinence from food and drink, except water, for an extended period.

To fast is the best way to detoxify your body. A fast is internal cleansing and health rejuvenation. Contrary to common belief, herbs do not thoroughly detoxify your body: they simply increase your urine flow. Only a total water fast can totally detoxify your body.

A fast is not starvation, which is abstinence continued beyond your body’s nutrient reserves. In other words, starvation may exhaust your body’s stored nutrients to the point of presenting health hazards, while a fast is still “consuming” the nutrient reserves stored in your body. There is a big difference.

                               Why should you fast?

You should fast once in a while in order to detoxify your body. Common symptoms of a body overburdened with toxins include skin and hair problems, along with deterioration of health, and increased vulnerability to disease.

Toxicity can result in immune suppression and chronic disease, including cancer and Alzheimer's disease. (Read my web pges:
Cancer.and Brain Health.)

Detoxification involves dislodging your body toxins and wastes from within and between cells and joints, and transporting these wastes from your body for removal. Among the benefits of internal cleansing are:

·  Disease prevention and treatment

·  Weight loss

·  Clear thinking

·  More energy

·  Improved muscle flexibility

·  Clean and clear skin

·  Retarded aging

Benefits of a fast

·  In addition to disease prevention, it accelerates the natural healing process of your body, thereby enabling your body to recover speedily from any disease.

It temporarily stops the continuing work of your digestive system, instrumental in reserving energy for your natural healing. Your body may now utilize the energy - normally used to secrete digestive enzymes to break down the food for distribution of nutrients throughout your body - for natural healing.

·  It benefits your cardiovascular system by softening your blood vessels to help decrease your blood pressure. (Read <http://store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/clink?herbal-remedies-usa+Urxnt6+45250.html>
.)

·  It activates the immune system in your body for disease prevention.

·  It relieves the burden of not only your digestive tract, but also your liver and kidneys, which otherwise would have to work extra hard to remove additives and toxins accumulated in your body through improper eating.

It removes the cause of any chronic disease you may have by removing the toxins, not just the symptoms, as in the case of medication.

·  It enhances your body’s metabolism, instrumental in effectively and permanently controlling your weight gain.

It is a beneficial regimen for weight control. You could lose as much as one to two pounds per day during a fast.

To lose one pound of body weight, you need to burn up 3,000 plus calories more than you consume - which is virtually impossible unless you exercise vigorously. The body is composed of mostly water. Sodium in food retains water. As soon as you fast, huge amount of water is eliminated or flushed out from your system (that is how and why fasting cleanses), due to the large quantity of water you consume. In weight control, calories do count. During a fast, there is nothing - no calorie, no protein, no carbohydrate. The rate of losing weight is directly proportionate to the degree of your overweight.

·  It enhances your taste, hearing, and eyesight. The ancient Greeks utilized fasting to purify their bodies and to sharpen their minds. The American Indians used fasting to induce better vision.

·  By conserving the energy otherwise used in digesting food, it provides you with more, not less, energy, contrary to the myth that fasting makes your body weak. Remember, eating and digesting food do expend your energy too.

·  It may alleviate your body pain and rid your body of drug dependence. It facilitates you, if you are a smoker, to quit smoking during a fast.

·  It slows down your aging process by keeping your arteries young (often hardened by cholesterol, fats, inorganic minerals and fibrous tissues).

It facilitates the removal of accumulated substances that may damage cell functions, thereby slowing down your aging process and extending your lifespan. It is anti-aging.

By removing stresses on your cellular cells, it may give your face a more radiant complexion, with fewer wrinkles. Rejuvenation in the skin helps your anti-aging. You would be no older in the body in the year’s end than you were in the beginning. It rejuvenates an aging body - it is anti-aging.

Fear to go on a fast

Arguably, fasting can be rather unpleasant, especially for beginners.

Some people are afraid of it due to some long-standing myths regarding fasting, such as it will make you sick, it will deprive your body of nutrients, or it is nothing other than religious self-denial.

Some people are uncomfortable about going on a fast because they erroneously associate it with “
starvation.” Ironically, those who feel uncomfortable about fasting are generally those who are in greatest need of a fast. Fasting is not malnutrition; it is health rejuvenation.

Some people have the phobia that a fast entails pain and suffering. Interestingly, many symptoms of hunger disappear after the second day of a fast, subsequently followed by a feeling of wellness and euphoria.

                                       Types of fast

Essentially, there is only one type of fast - a pure water fast.

A juice fast is not a fast: it is not anti-inflammatory; only a pure water fast is.

A vegetable or fruit fast is more of a healthful diet than a fast.

Only a pure water fast is complete and total fasting, which has the capability to break down fat, abnormal cells, plaque, and even tumors.

                                      Safety of a fast

Fasting is both natural and safe. Your body system has the capability to fast, and your body has the ability to fast safely. Generally, it takes more than forty days to exhaust all the nutrients stored in your body. That is why in the Bible,
Jesus fasted for forty days.

In general, your body will still have more than adequate reserves of proteins, fats, minerals, and vitamins to maintain its normal function during a fast. In fact, during a fast, your body conserves its muscle and lean body tissues.

For centuries, people have practiced fasting all over the world as anti-aging detoxification.

Animals instinctively fast when they are sick or wounded. However, humans in similar situations erroneously believe they need to eat more to regain strength, thus making them even sicker and weaker

Who can go on a fast?

Any individual who wants to be healthy and to stay healthy, even those in their eighties, are candidates for fasting for health rejuvenation.

Naturally, if you go on a fast longer than three or four days, or if you have some medical conditions, you should always consult your physician before going on any fast.

How to prepare your body for a fast

Eat more vegetables and fruits prior to a fast. Reduce the consumption of meat, and refrain from eating any meat the day before a fast.

What to do during a fast

Drinking plenty of water is required since your body may easily become dehydrated due to the discharge of body fluids.

Continue your normal daily routine activities, but avoid all strenuous activities, especially those outdoor ones. Exercise as normal.

Bathe more frequently, brushing your body to stimulate your skin to rid toxins from your body.

Stop taking your daily vitamins while fasting.

Stop smoking, if you are a smoker. That is as good a time as any to quit smoking for good.

Stop taking medications, but consult your physician first regarding any prescribed medication.

                                      Process of a fast

On the first day, you feel pangs of hunger, and a white coating forms on your tongue.

On the second day, you begin to feel gradual dissipation of hunger, and there is more white coating on your tongue.

On the third day, you may feel complete disappearance of hunger and the clearance of coating on your tongue.

The first three days of a fast are most challenging. However, once the challenge is overcome, you are well on the way to health rejuvenation of your entire body.

                                   How to break a fast

When your tongue is clean and clear without any coating, you may want to break your fast.

·  Break a fast on fruits and vegetables juice. An apple is ideal for breaking a fast.

·  Gradually increase your intake of solid food. Eat slowly and chew carefully. Overeating too soon may cause abdominal pain and even vomiting.

·  Avoid taking salt and pepper immediately after a fast, lest they damage your stomach lining.

·  Continue to drink plenty of water after a fast.

Remember, the longer the fast, the less you should eat at the first meal.

                                   Duration of a fast

A clear tongue and clean breath are a good indication that the detoxification is more or less complete.

The length of a fast depends very much on an individual. The following is just a general guideline:

·  A one-day fast, as often as required, preferably weekly, for good maintenance

·  A three-to-four-day fast for general health and well being, several times a year

·  A two-week fast for complete internal cleansing, every year or so

·  A three-week fast (or even longer) for curing a specific disease, under the supervision of a physician

Always consult your physician first if you go on a fast longer than three to four days. Stop the fast immediately if there is significant increase in physical weakness, or drastic drop in blood pressure.

A one-day fast is ideal for maintenance, but may not be too effective for deep cleansing.

Regular fasting minimizes the risk of a disabling disease later in life.

                                   Fast for longevity

Fasting is not a temporary remedy for overeating, though it may serve as a supplementary elimination due to overeating. Since fasting redirects nerve impulses from your digestive organs to your elimination organs, you become more efficient in excreting wastes from your body, evidenced in your fetid breath, coated tongue, and foul saliva.

It is neither a panacea for all ailments, nor a miracle cure for any disease. However, fasting does promote ultimate health rejuvenation for longevity living.

It is an integral part of detoxification, which is critical to good health and wellness down the road to longevity.

Detox And Intestinal Cleansing is a comprehensive book that covers everything you need to know about intestinal cleansing, how to stay healthy and lose weight permanently. Weight control is one of the most effective anti-aging strategies for extending your longevity.

Water is also an effective medium for detoxification.

Detox Bath uses NOTHING but water to help your body flush out toxins and excess fat. It is a tool that Nature has graciously provided to help your maintain your body and health in optimal conditions. You will be amazed at the miracle of water in detoxifying and rejuvenating your body inside out! Detoxify yourself NATURALLY!

Foot patches are also very effective in drawing toxins from your body through your feet while you sleep.

EDTA Chelation Therapy is medically equivalent to I.V. chelation therapy for thorough removal of all toxic metals from your body instead of using expensive intravenous infusions or quantities of nutritional supplements.

Fasting is a prerequisite for longevity, because one of the ancient secrets of longevity is eating less, and a fast just does that.

After detoxification, maintain a balanced acid-alkaline diet for optimum health, and you will have longevity.

The Acid-Alkaline Diet provides excellent information on how to alkalize your diet. Many experts believe that a balance of acidity and alkalinity, known as your balanced pH level in your body, will make you disease free. Therefore, alkalizing your body is the way to go for anti-aging.
